Bath Bombs!

So, after spending so much time researching recipes on-line for these fantastic gems of goodness I decided to gather all the ingredients and attempt making them.  I found this recipe on Pinterest (my absolute favourite place to spend oodles of time).  It was quite easy to make and they fixed okay but not as much as I would prefer so some tweaking of the recipe will be done.

I'm sorry I have no photos to share but will for sure take photos on my next attempt.

Here is the recipe;

8 Ounces of Baking Soda
4 Ounces of Citric Acid
4 Ounces of Corn Starch
4 Ounces of Epsom Salts
3/4 tsp water (I used witch hazel)
2 tsp essential oils or about 20 drops ( I did ten drops of lavender and ten sweet orange oil)
2.5 tsp Almond Oil
Food colouring.

I purchased all the ingredients except for the Citric Acid at Kardish but you would be able to obtain these at Bulk Barn. I did not look at Bulk Barn but I imagine you would be able to get the citric acid there as well.  I purchased the Citric acid and Witch Hazel at a store in Ottawa on Bank Street called Planet Botanix. The lady there was very friendly and took the time to answer all of my questions.

Directions are as follows;

Make sure to use a scale to weigh all the ingredients. Measure out all the dry ingredients into a bowl, mix well and set aside. In another bowl measure out all the wet ingredients.  Put all the wet ingredients into a spray bottle, mix well. Spray the dry ingredients slowly with the wet ingredients while mixing, make sure not to spray too much too soon as not to make the entire concoction fizzle.

Once everything is well incorporated it should resemble wet sand and stick together well. I used an ice cube tray to mold mine. I  simply packed the ingredients into a mold and allowed them to dry overnight.  This morning when I woke up they popped right out and were ready to use.  This recipe yielded 20 ice cube sized bath bombs.

Did I mention how amazing they smell????  They smell fabulous.

Tonight I will attempt making Hot Process soap and tomorrow Cold Process soap.
